How it actually Works

The black panels are placed on the floor with an air tight seal around the edges. The small yellow hoses you see are then attached to the holes on the black panel. The hoses are connected to the injectidry system forming suction underneath the black panels. Air will travel from between the subfloor and flooded hardwood/timber floor through the groves between the boards, bringing moisture out. An industrial dehumidifier is used in the middle of the room to pull the moisture out of the room

Other ways a Timber Floor can be Damaged by Flooding

Wood always contain moisture to some extent. When it's in the form of a tree, it can contain 90 % water. When the timber is cut and dried the moisture level can reduce to 8% give or take. This level can go up and down depending on the seasons. However, timber floors can only take so much moisture. Below are some of the problems that may happen standing water is left unattended:

Crowning - This may happen when the bottom of the wood floor dries and flattens out while leaving the tops of the timber bloat.

Cupping - occurs when the bottom of the timber flooring holds more moisture than the top. The top generally dries faster than the bottom.

If the floor is sanded before it has had a chance to fully dry, the top of the surface will be flat but the bottoms are damaged.

Remember when you have water damage with a timber floor it is imperative that action is taken immediately or it may be too late.
