However, in many cases it is more cost effective to dry and restore water damage carpet than replacing it. However this is only if the water damage is attended to quickly.
To determine whether the carpet is recoverable it is necessary to know the source of the water damage:
Is it Clean Water? - This is water that generally does not contain any contaminates. An example of this is storm water or water from a burst pipe. If carpet has been affected by clean water the carpet can be dried and restored. Is it Grey Water? - Grey water will contain some contaminates. For Example: Water from a dishwasher or washing machine. We will need to treat and disinfect the carpet before we can restore and clean it. Black Water? - This is water that contains harful contaminates and potential pathogens. There is nothing we can do here but throw away the carpet and underlay. We would need to clean and disinfect the concrete and walls. |
